Course Description:
This course is designed to familiarize students with the kinds of oral and written communications needed to succeed in business and professional contexts, and to develop in them the skills needed for effective communication in a variety of organizational settings. The course also explores theories of persuasion, group dynamics, and management to increase student awareness and understanding of the underlying communication process.
Emphasis is placed on electronic messages, project development and employment portfolios.
Three credits.

Course Objectives
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
1. Compose a proper correspondence based on the situation (letter, email, text, etc.)
2. Work collaboratively in a remote setting
3. Identify and define the ethical communication issues in any correspondence
4. Define and refine your own creative processes
Learning Activities for this class will include:
- Working in the Google suite of products
- 2-3 remote group projects
- Posting and commenting on weekly message boards
- Weekly quizzes
Each week the topics will be the following:
Week 1 - Getting to know your remote working life
Week 2 - Your relationship with business media and communication
Week 3 - Email and memos
Week 4 - Working remotely in groups and remote presentations
Week 5 - More presentations and presenting yourself in job interviews
Week 6 - How to present yourself to get the job you want
